Everyone uses cell phones these days and it should be no surprise to anyone that their screen can get dirty. Throughout constantly using the phone all day, you may not realize how many germs, dirt, oil and debris end up on our screen. Not to mention, when you’re eating and using your phone, you transfer the oils from your fingertips right onto your phones screen. Have you ever cleaned your phone? If you have a phone with a touch sensor you may be aware because at some point, the grime can make it difficult for the sensor to recognize your touch. In this article, we’ll share 3 easy tips to keeping your phone case clean. As well as sharing tips and advice of why it’s important. Read on fellow techie!

Why You Should Keep Your Phone Screen Clean

For starters, keeping your phone screen clean is a good habit to get into. You want to ensure that oil, debris and grime does not get into the speakers and clog them. Secondly, when you’re talking on the phone, you can actually transfer those environmental impurities onto your ear. Why is that a concern? That oil and buildup can actually cause blackheads in the ear, according to SKINFAQ. It makes total sense, doesn’t it? If you only use your phone for gaming and rely on wireless headphones, then maybe the oil and dirt buildup isn’t such a concern for your skin. BUT, you still regularly use your phone, and sometimes use your hands to eat. So this is a potential cause for concern if you ingest germs or unwanted bacteria.

In addition to worrying about skincare and potentially clogging your pores, the dirt and oil buildup on your screen can actually get into your speakers, clog them, and make them ware overtime. Have you ever tried cleaning that out? Then you know how difficult it can be. And last, but not last, as I briefly touched on above, is potentially getting the bacteria in your mouth because you’re using your phone while you are eating. I’m sure you don’t want that!

So now that you know WHY you should keep your phone screen clean, let’s discuss HOW to keep your phone screen clean.

How to Keep Your Phone Screen Clean

Regularly Clean Your Screen

Well, this one may be obvious, but develop a habit to clean your screen. If you make it a habit to clean your screen every night before you go to bed, you won’t have to worry about buildup of dirt, oil and debris. This is more sanitary, and then you don’t have to worry about the germs getting on your skin and causing acne/blackheads, but also so you don’t accidentally get them into your mouth while eating pizza and playing on your phone. And you’ll also prevent buildup from clogging speakers. This ultimately will benefit you and help your phone last longer and get the longevity out of it.

Don’t Use Your Phone While Eating

Another one that some people don’t think of. Put your phone away while you eat! Have you ever seen someone eat french fries or other greasy food while scrolling through Instagram? Exactly, it’s not good! All of the dirt, oil and grime will transfer over. You’ll survive a few minutes without your phone. Enjoy your food! You paid for it (or maybe you made it from scratch). Wash your hands directly after eating – done, no more transferring of germs to your phone.

Keep Your Phone Away While You’re Cooking

Have you ever cooked while looking at a recipe on your phone? Then you know you’re likely getting ingredients onto your screen. Getting dirty fingers while mixing and then looking for the next step on the recipe, is a recipe for disaster. You run the risk of getting ingredients into your speakers and ruining your phone. Instead, print out the recipe directions so you can keep your phone away (and safe). The absolute worst is oil splatters getting onto your screen.

How to Clean Your Phone

Cleaning your phone is easy: using a cloth will remove oily fingerprints, smudges and more from both the screen and cellphone body. Apply some rubbing alcohol to a cotton swab or microfiber cloth and gently wipe away grime. Boom, you’re done! Hopefully these tips shared will help you keep your phone screen clean. Your skin will thank you, and so will your body.
