The info has been gathered by our friends over at tech blog Digital Inspiration, which used data from the Play Store itself. So, which are the top downloaded Android apps? Google’s Gmail, YouTube and Google Play services apps lead the way, followed by Maps and Facebook.

These five apps have an install base between 500 million and a billion, which you can see in the graph below. The blue bars show the average user rating of an app, while the orange lines indicate the total number of users which left a rating for the said apps.

Facebook is the only app which boasts over 500 million downloads without being a Google app. The other four come pre-installed on every Android smartphone, so their success isn’t really a surprise.

As for the more common apps, 65 of them have been downloaded more than 50 million times each. A torch app named Brightest Flashlight is the one with the highest average rating among them.

On top of the 100+ million downloads chart sits Go Launcher Ex home screen replacement app, followed by Twitter, Viber and Facebook Messenger.

Game wise, the most popular ones are Subway Surfers, Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds and Temple Run. The full resolution graph can be seen at the source link below.
