The ZTE Tania represents the Chinese company's first Windows Phone device and was officially announced in the UK today, although the unveiling took part in September last year. Until now, it showed up in France, and it went on pre-order in the UK a few weeks ago. The ZTE Tania is clearly one of the cheapest smartphones to be powered by Microsoft's Windows Phone system. ZTE goes even further and declares its handset as the cheapest 4.3-inch Windows Phone on the market.

The screen size might indeed prove to be a great selling point, sine we're not used to such a size on a budget midranger. There is this pre-conception that the bigger a smartphone's display is, the more high-end the device. Obviously, it has no relevance, but ZTE will probably take advantage anyway. Aside from the big screen, the ZTE Tania is equipped with some pretty budget-friendly specs such as a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of storage space, a 5 MP autofocus camera with 720p HD video recording, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, HSPA, and a 1,400 mAh battery.

The handset is 10.7 mm thick and runs Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. You can head on over to Clove and make your pre-order for a SIM-free and unlocked version, which will set you back £249.99. Shipping will happen during the first days of February and at some point it will become available at Go Mobile, Virgin Media, and Brightpoint, where you'll get it for free on contracts starting about £10-£20 per month.
