Alcatel Blaze Duo - affordable dual-SIM Android handset

The name Alcatel sure brings back some memories. Sadly, nowadays we don't hear much about Alcatel handsets, but this might just start to change. The latest Android device from the manufacturer is called Alcatel Blaze Duo OT-918N, and represents an entry-level dual-SIM, dual-standby model. You might also have heard about its twin sibling, namely the OT-918D, to which it shares pretty much the same specs, except for 3G frequencies, on which the two handsets differ.

As we mentioned, these handsets are entry-level ones, so you can't expect some great features on any of them. Instead, you'll get a 650MHz processor with 256MB of RAM, a 3.2 inch LCD with HVGA resolution, as well as a 3MP camera, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, while the whole thing runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. These Blaze Duo handsets pack two SIM cards in a somewhat unconventional manner - both enter the same slot, just the first one goes face down, while the other one goes face up. It's important to note that you can use SIM cards, and won’t be needing microSIMs.

We don't have some solid information regarding availability of these two devices, but we received info that the Blaze Duo OT-918N is available in the Philippines for about $140, while the OT-918D is offered in Australia for $179. If either of them are available in your area, please leave us a comment and let us know. Also, be aware that there's also a single-SIM version of the phone, which is called OT-918.
