That's right, Alcatel is going to be the next company to get involved in the Windows Phone business.

It's the first time that TCL (the Chinese company that sells devices under the Alcatel brand) gets involved with Microsoft, and it chose to have this collaboration in a time in which it desperately needs to refresh their smartphone segment.

So, the first Alcatel Windows Phone will be called One Touch View, and it's set to run on Windows Phone 7.8, a version destined for low-end hardware.

Therefore, the specs aren't going to impress you - a 4-inch 480×800 IPS touchscreen, a 1 GHz processor, a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, a front-facing VGA snapper, 4 GB of built-in storage space, 512 MB of RAM, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 1,500 mAh battery.

The Alcatel One Touch View will apparently make its debut in Russia before the end of the year, for a price tag of about $257 or €199. Other emerging markets should receive this handset at a later time, but we'll have to get back you with specifics.

As we see it, its direct competition will be the Nokia Lumia 510, which is rumored to cost around $150, meaning that Alcatel's experience with Windows Phone might turn up to be a failure. But then again, TCL might chose to cut the price, or make some special offers. Count on us to report back.
