It's a very competitive smartphone world out there, but Alcatel has no plans of giving up the fight. Last year during MWC, the company showcased the OT-990, which reached availability a long time after and with limited market success.

It's been a year since then and we'll see if Alcatel will learned from their mistakes, as they plan to launch the OT-915, around the time of the MWC event again. This new handset features a touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard, giving it a sort of BlackBerry apparel.

The touchscreen will be a 2.8 inch unit with a resolution clocked at 240×320. Obviously, these specs establish the OT-915's place as an affordable smartphone. It will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with no chance of 4.0 ICS which is simply too bad. Other features include a 5 MP camera, Wi-Fi, and an FM radio. There's no telling when this handset will come out or how much it will cost, but we'll get back to you with further details.
