Samsung finally released info regarding the list of devices that are getting the Android 4.4 KitKat update, and thus putting their users' minds at ease. The list applies to the international versions of the phones. Check it out below:
As you might have noticed, the Galaxy S III is conspicuously missing from the list. Allegedly, the reason would be the amount of RAM - the S III only sports 1GB - but that can't really be the real reason. After all, the Galaxy Grand also sports just 1GB RAM as well.
Furthermore, KitKat is optimized for even 512MB devices, so Samsung will have a hard time explaining why the S III isn't on the list.
It's important to mention that the US version of the Galaxy S III will in fact be getting KitKat, but this version has 2GB of RAM.
Regardless of the reason, Sammy's 2012 flagship is now in the same boat as the international HTC One X - stuck on Jelly Bean forever or take the unofficial ROM way.
