Huawei will announce its Galaxy Note II competitor in January 2013

Our sources talked with Huawei's Senior Vice President Yu Chengdong, who apparently confirmed that the Chinese manufacturer is working on a competitor for the Galaxy Note II.

In addition, he said that Huawei's device will be much better and cheaper than the current phablet alpha dog.

Yu Chengdong also confirmed some of the latest rumors, regarding a device called Ascend Mate, set to hit the market with a 6.1-inch 1080p display, a 1.8GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM.

The VP said that such a device is in the works and praised it even more, announcing that it will be slimmer and cooler with better grip, display and battery life. A dream phone, if they manage to pull it off.

There isn't any official word regarding the announcement or release of the Ascend Mate (or whatever it will be called), but sources close to Huawei indicate towards a CES 2013 announcement, in January.
