With this handset, Panasonic returns to the European market and does it with confidence and high expectations. The Eluga and Eluga Power droids are the handsets which give Panasonic the confidence that they'll get a decent bite of the high-end smartphone sales. Both devices come with IP57 certification for dust and water resistance.

Panasonic Eluga reaches availability throughout Europe

The Panasonic Eluga is already available in silver and black, and if you're willing to pay £365/€440, it can be yours as of now. The device has already been released in Germany a few days ago, and today it hit the shelves in the UK. Several other European markets also offer this Android-running handset.

The Eluga is based on the TI OMAP 4430 chipset which features a dual-core 1GHz processor and PowerVR SGX540 GPU, while also having other nice specs such as a 4.3-inch OLED qHD display, an 8 megapixel camera and non-expandable (sadly) 8GB storage. Although it currently runs 2.3 Gingerbread, an update to Ice Cream Sandwich is in the works.

If you're looking for something more high-end than this, you should know that the Eluga Power is supposed to be released by the end of this month sporting a 1.5GHz dual-core Krait, Adreno 225, 5" HD LCD screen, and Android 4.0 ICS. The pre-order price looks like this - £480/€585.
