Pantech is a South Korean based company, and normally when we say its name, it hardly makes us think about high-end smartphones. Still, we wouldn't have seen Huawei as being able to come up with more than average devices, and how wrong we turned out to be. So, as we said, Pantech is readying a new Android-powered handset for its native South Korean market. In the leak seen below, the handset is called Pantech IM-A839 but is should clearly have a new name by the time of its launch.

Unfortunately, we haven't got any pictures of this upcoming smartphone, but we do have a bit of interesting information - most likely, it will reach the market with a 720p HD touchscreen, a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, and will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Furthermore, it might just be one of the first non-Nexus devices to get rid of the classical hardware Android button in favor of their software-rendered counterparts which 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich enables.

As it seems, the handset is on its way to SK Telecom, which is one of the biggest carriers in Korea, so we might just see it live in a few days. There are chances that certain versions of the Pantech IM-A830S will reach other markets across the globe, most likely the US, since Pantech had some fairly decent dealings with the carriers. We'll be back with more info as we get it.
